At WorkTango, we are proud of our year-round dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEI&B). In fact, this year alone, we have been able to recognize and celebrate Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, and in June, Pride Month.
Recognizing Pride Month in the workplace is important: it is an empowering celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and aligns with our commitment of fostering a diverse and accepting work environment where you can be “1000% you.” So, whether you are looking for ideas on how to celebrate Pride with your own teams, or simply want to read about what we did at WorkTango in 2023, read on to learn more about the programming that WorkTango’s PRIDE Employee Resource Group put together in June.
1. Pride Educational Minutes
At company-wide meetings throughout Pride month, WorkTango shared educational minutes on prominent modern and historical LGBTQ+ leaders and individuals. We believe that highlighting these key individuals allows us to foster inclusivity, promote understanding, and create a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ employees and allies.
2. Pride Voices Panel
In June, WorkTango held a powerful Pride Voices panel session where we got to hear from some of our very own LGBTQ+ team members. In this session, we celebrated stories about Pride, learned about the lives of some of these amazing individuals, and discussed the importance of inclusivity and allyship for the LGBTQ+ community.
3. Pride Jeopardy
WorkTango employees also got to participate in Pride Jeopardy – a game inspired by the popular TV show. This game was tailored to highlight LGBTQ+ history, milestones, fun facts, and important figures. It served as a fantastic opportunity for employees to test their knowledge, learn new things, and celebrate the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community over time.
4. LGBTQ+ Cause Donation Point Pool
As part of WorkTango’s commitment to making a positive impact with our employee Recognition & Rewards platform, we organized an initiative to contribute to two remarkable organizations that empower, support, and uplift LGBTQ+ individuals. We encouraged employees to donate Recognition points earned within our WorkTango platform for doing great work to these non-profit organizations. Together, WorkTango employees raised hundreds of dollars to donate to these amazing organizations. You can find more information about the two non-profit causes that WorkTango supported below:
1. The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
2. The Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, better known as Lambda Legal, is an American civil rights organization that focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities as well as people living with HIV/AIDS through impact litigation, societal education, and public policy work.
Although June 2023 is over, we will carry the spirit of Pride forward throughout the year by continuing to champion equality and celebrate diversity every day. We are on a mission to make (work) lives better, and to create a brighter future where all individuals can thrive authentically and proudly at work. Happy Pride month! 🌈💙
