How to Manage Your Reputation as an Employer During COVID-19
We’ve all had to make adjustments in our daily lives as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. For many organizations, that includes shifting our business and talent strategies, without the benefit of having a clear view of the longevity or overall impact that these adjustments will have on our teams. When we overcome this pandemic – and we will overcome this pandemic – organizations will start to accelerate again, and it’s important that as business leaders we make the people centric decisions today that don’t handcuff our businesses of tomorrow. During this webcast, John Fleischauer and Rob Catalano will share their tips and ideas on how organizations can make smart people centric decisions today, that will yield a positive impact to employee engagement, and your organization’s reputation as an employer.
Key takeaways will include:
- “Slowing down to speed up”. Now is not the time to reinvent the wheel as it relates to employee engagement or hiring, but now is a great time to focus inward and prioritize the people strategies that will yield the largest, positive impact to our teams in the long-term.
- “Delivering certainty in uncertain times”. We’re all looking for answers, but we may not even be asking the right questions. Internal communications have never been more important to employee engagement, but these internal communications may actually fuel your organization’s reputation as an employer for the months and years to come.
- “Now is not the time to sell, but it is the time to build”. Adversity yields creativity, creativity yields confidence, and confidence yields outcomes. For organizations that have or are finding themselves in a position where they have to soon make difficult personnel decisions, there are a handful of considerations that should be made, and how they will be communicated.
John Fleischauer – or as he’s better known – bigtalljohn – is a bit of a recruiting enigma. After studying Biomedical Toxicology at the University of Guelph, John started his career in the recruiting industry in 2004. After working in the agency space for eight years, John transitioned to corporate and lead Halogen Software’s Global Talent Acquisition function, where he helped the business scale from 170-530 employees (worldwide) in 3 years. After being acquired by Saba Software, he then transitioned to lead Saba Software’s Global Talent Acquisition function where he was able to stand up a predictable hiring engine that allowed the business to hire for 70 open positions in his final 60 days with the company. John is now Chief Talent Officer of Pivot + Edge, a firm that helps scaling organizations compete against the big corporate conglomerates in the war for talent. John is an author, a TEDx speaker, a two-time DisruptHR speaker, and you can find him rambling about ridiculous nonsense on Twitter @bigtalljohn.
